Abstract

Imaging of interstitial lung diseases is mainly based on the integration of information coming from imaging, pathology, and clinical history. Multiple can be the radiologic approaches to ILD; however, one of the most important can be the distinction of a UIP-IPF pattern from the other entities. From this first step, the distinction of UIP pattern in IPF from the secondary UIP forms can be inferred. Finally other idiopathic interstitial pneumonias can be considered, in absence of the key features of UIP pattern. Integration of radiologic and pathologic findings can be really helpful in identification of early stages of diseases.
