Abstract

The classroom setting is often thought to represent a ‘safe space’ that encourages critical learning, the exchange of ideas, and pedagogical tools to generate future knowledge (Sian 2017: 11). However, it would be naive to simply suggest that the classroom is free from antagonism, particularly because it sits within a broader university environment that is structured by institutional racism.
