Abstract

In this chapter we introduce computer music instrument components as plugins to larger systems. As a practical example, we take a look at a C++ framework designed to facilitate the implementation of plugin opcodes for Csound. The chapter explores each aspect of component development with reference to the principles already introduced in earlier chapters, but now applied to plugins. Examples of signal generation, processing, and spectral manipulation are provided.
