Abstract
The second part of the book focuses on Simmel’s final book The View of Life. That book is made-up of four essays. This particular chapter focuses upon the second of those essays. The chapter focuses upon Simmel’s discussion of knowledge and ideas. It looks at how conceptions of the world enable people to piece together the fragments of modernity into coherent wholes. Picking up on the previous chapter, this section looks at how changes in knowledge transform the limits and boundaries that shape individual life.
