Abstract

Young baseball pitchers are particularly at risk for shoulder problems including little league shoulder or proximal humeral apophysitis. Young pitchers and parents should be counseled on injury prevention tactics that are specific to baseball. Pitch counts, limiting extra throwing both inside and outside of baseball, and shoulder and core exercises are all important injury prevention strategies for young throwers.
