Abstract
This paper gives an overview about the design, implementation, and practical use in Engineering Education of “CoCo—Cluster of Computers,” a massive parallel IoT-computing cluster developed by bachelor degree students. First, the development goal and its expected application is explained. Next, hardware and software design and implementation are described in detail. Furthermore, the practical use of the cluster including the first test and demo applications are shown. Here, current super-computing methods like Message Passing Interface (MPI) and Open Multi Processing (OpenMP) are used to depict the ability and functionality of the cluster. Finally, the integration of CoCo into the curriculum of several lectures like Computer Science and Computer Engineering, as well the integration into the CUAS Remote Laboratories are described.
