Abstract
Three cases studies of people working with nature are presented and reflected upon in relation to Merleau Ponty’s philosophy of perception. They are part of a larger study of people’s narrative interviews. If nature and the non-human other are seen as having agency, then relating to nature becomes an intersubjective process. The individuals in these case studies acknowledge and talk about such a dynamic relation to nature. A relation that is beyond seeing nature simply as an object or resource for humans to use towards one which sees nature as a co-participating subject.
