Abstract
Clinical leadership is a vital component in integrating telemedicine technologies in the eICU. These leaders must be involved in designing the space and functionality of the unit. In addition, there should be heavy involvement in technical integration and designing interfaces with the electronic medical record (EMR) as well as understanding how the eICU interacts with radiology and accessory devices. Finally, clinical integration is often the most difficult task needing leadership, forward thinking, and an eye toward constant process improvement to drive value. A case example of using data and change management tools to drive best practice improvement is given.
