Abstracts

Referees and reference letters can make a big difference to your chances of getting an interview and thus a job. This chapter explains how to choose your referees and how to write a reference letter (including the option of writing it yourself and getting the referee to sign it). It is not recommended to have a glowingly positive reference letter, but to include also possible areas where you need to improve your skills.
