Abstract

Shoulder arthroplasty is an effective treatment for arthritis that improves pain, function, and quality of life. National trends in utilization of arthroplasty indicate that the number of shoulder arthroplasties is increasing steadily with more arthroplasties being performed in younger and more active patients. Because of the rising utilization, there is a downstream effect of a growing burden of complexity of revision surgery. This chapter will provide a general overview on the approach to the management of the painful shoulder arthroplasty.
