Abstract

We used to improve the frequency values of processors to have more computation capacity for decades, but this technological approach reached its limits nowadays. However, the demand for more computational capacity has not diminished at all. The engineers started to design and build processors with multiple CPU cores to stay on the path of continuous performance improvement. This can mean a thousand or more cores even in the lesser supercomputers. Algorithms only benefit from the larger computation capacity of such multicore environments if they are designed and implemented to run on multiple threads. This chapter is going to present the parallel version of GlobalJ in this sense.
