Acute compartment syndrome is a potentially devastating complication of traumatic injury, most commonly following long bone fractures. Early recognition of warning signs/symptoms is essential to initiate immediate surgical consultation and prospective intervention, especially in patients who are unconscious and/or exhibit altered mental status. Diagnosis is manufactured clinically, supported by history and temporal clinical evaluation, with definitive care involving emergent fasciotomy.
