Abstract

Failure of immune function affects mainly cell-mediated immunity (T lymphocytes) and humoral immunity (immunoglobulins secreted by plasmacytes derived from B lymphocytes). Deficient cell-mediated immunity is assessed by direct cell count or after immunofluorescent studies and with functional tests in tissue cultures. The diagnosis of humoral immunodeficiency is made with electroand Immunoe-lectrophoresis.
