Résumé

Le terme « trouble somatoforme » est apparu pour la première fois dans la classification du DSM III, il y a un peu plus de 25 ans. Le suffixe « forme » étant utilisé en médecine pour désigner un tableau pouvant évoquer un autre syndrome clinique, les troubles somatoformes correspondent à un trouble psychiatrique empruntant les caractéristiques d’un trouble somatique. Situé au croisement entre la médecine somatique et la médecine psychiatrique, le champ des troubles somatoformes représente une demande considérable pour le système de soins actuel, mais aussi probablement l’expression la plus variée de la souffrance psychique, dans laquelle la douleur est une plainte récurrente.
