Résumé

Au sein des maladies inflammatoires chroniques de l’intestin (MICI), l’atteinte isolée du rectum constitue une entité à part entière, tant au plan topographique que pronostique. La majorité des rectites cryptogénétiques correspond à des formes distales de rectocolite ulcéro-hémorragique (RCH), et plus rarement des formes distales de maladie de Crohn ou de colite inclassée. Près de la moitié des patients souffrants de RCH ont une atteinte limitée au rectum, dont 10 % vont répondre à la définition de la rectite réfractaire [1]. Malgré sa fréquence, la forme distale n’est que rarement individualisée au sein des études publiées sur la RCH; les informations se nichent au sein de cohortes de patients atteints de formes plus étendues (colites gauches) ou diffuses (pancolite).
