Résumé
Le furoncle est une infection aiguë du follicule pilo-sébacé. Le germe en cause est le staphylocoque doré qui provoque une lésion nécrosante. La furonculose correspond à une infection répétée ou à une crise de folliculites sur une large zone. Le furoncle siège en général dans une zone pilo-sébacée, comme le visage. La furonculose siège souvent dans le dos et les épaules. Le furoncle ou furonculose qui siège au niveau de la barbe se nomme sycosis. Elle évolue de façon torpide et récidivante, et est favorisée et aggravée par le rasage mécanique. La furonculose se caractérise par une apparition d’inflammation évoluant rapidement vers une infection très localisée au niveau du follicule pileux, ou sur toute une zone de peau. Souvent marque de grattage et cicatrices d’anciens furoncles. Elle évolue sur un terrain nerveux, anxiodépressif, apparaît surtout chez les jeunes. La furonculose est plus fréquente chez les garçons. Il faut toujours rechercher un terrain diabétique, ou un travail au contact du sucre (pâtissier, etc.)
