Plusieurs malformations congénitales peuvent être responsables d’une incontinence à l’âge adulte.

Le complexe malformatif épispadias exstrophie est lié à un défaut de fermeture de la ligne médiane sous ombilicale. L’exstrophie vésicale classique est la forme la plus souvent rencontrée. L’incontinence est la règle. Les corrections chirurgicales ne permettent presque jamais d’avoir une continence normale. Une continence sociale peut, au plus, être obtenue.

Les valves de l’urètre postérieur peuvent être responsables d’une incontinence de par leur retentissement sur la fonction détrusorienne.

Les vessies neurologiques sont représentées en majorité par les myélodysplasies.

Les myéloméningocèles constituent plus de 90 % des myélodysplasies ouvertes vues chez l’enfant.
-
Quatre-vingt pour cent des enfants présentant une myélodysplasie ont besoin d’un traitement pour incontinence.
