La chirurgie des patients âgés vulnérables

Abstrait

L’hospitalisation et la chirurgie représentent des situations à risque chez les patients âgés vulnérables. Ces derniers, du fait de leurs comorbidités et de l’existence de syndromes gériatriques (exemple: syndrome dépressif) plus fréquents, mais aussi en raison d’une diminution de leurs capacités de défense et de récupération (fragilité), sont exposés à la survenue d’un plus grand nombre de complications. Cet article identifie les indicateurs d’une prise en charge de qualité, notamment en cas de pneumopathie justifiant d’une hospitalisation ou d’une admission en chirurgie.
