Qu’on le réalise à la main ou à la pince, le noeud commence toujours par une boucle. Mais selon son sens de passage cette boucle se transforme en deminoeud (figs. 1, 2) ou en demi-clef (fig. 3). Le demi-noeud correctement serré tient parfaitement (fig. 2). La demi-clef, même serrée, a tendance à glisser, surtout avec un monofil. Si on serre plus fort, le fil casse.
