Abstrait

La chirurgie est la méthode la plus ancienne pour obtenir le contrôle local du cancer du sein. Historiquement privilège des barbiers, le traitement faisait appel à des applications locales de produits divers à ľefficacité douteuse. Des applications de fer rouge furent faites à la reine Anne ďAutriche! Les tumeurs du sein étaient bien connues des anciens auteurs, ľengorgement des ganglions axillaires satellites également, mais c’est à Halsted que ľon doit en 1898 la première description ďune série ďamputations du sein avec un contrôle postopértoire satisfaisant. Ľâge de la chirurgie du sein était né et cette intervention de Halsted a subi de multiples variations au fil du temps jusqu’aux années 1950 où le traitement conservateur apparut associé à la radiothérapie postopératoire.
