Abstract
Two sets of experimental gustiness profiles in the lower layers of the atmosphere under a range of stability conditions are presented. One set was obtained in the lower 200 ft over a desert in Arizona and the other set was obtained in the lower 2000 ft over Los Angeles, California. These measurements were made with the aid of British bivanes and by observing diffusion rates of smoke plumes. Some interpretations of the diurnal variations of these gustiness profiles are given.
