Abstract

Characteristics of atmospheric radiation process over China are summarized. It is indicated that the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau plays an important role in the radiation budget and significantly affects the weather and climate process in this area. In addition, the specific effects of aerosol particles and some trace gases on the optical properties of the atmosphere are noticed. A review on the development of atmospheric radiation studies and its application to climate and remote sensing in China is also presented.
