Abstract
Pain behaviors are the things that patients do when they experience pain. They can include efforts to cope with or manage the pain, such as limping, body posturing, and resting. They also include behaviors that communicate pain to others, such as verbal complaints of pain, groans, and facial expressions. If it can be observed and counted, and if it is associated with pain, it is a pain behavior.
