Abstract

Over the last several years, daVinci® robot-assisted radical prostatectomy has been increasingly performed. With a number of reports from large volume centers reporting excellent cancer outcomes, with preservation of continence, and potency in nerve-sparing cases, the use of the robot will undoubtedly continue to increase. In addition to these surgical goals, the decreased invasiveness of the laparoscopic or robotic approach is associated with a decreased hospital stay, and an overall shorter convalescence, increasing further the appeal for robot-assisted procedures.
