Abstract

When the human body encounters a foreign antigen, the immune response uses a variety of mechanisms to remove that antigen. These mechanisms include, among others, localized inflammation (characterized by rubor, calor, dolor, tumor, and loss of function),27 immune cell recruitment, and antibody production.
