Pain in the cervical region (neck pain) is very common in clinical practice. Young people are often affected by episodes of acute neck pain, which are usually transient, but the most common condition is chronic pain with acute, recurring episodes in adults and the elderly. Although this is rarely the case, neck pain may be of sinister origin, which it is important to exclude.
