The first five images of the upper row are short-axis images. The majority of image displays in this teaching file are arranged such that the short-axis views are displayed in the upper row, arranged from base to apex as one proceeds from left-to-right. In this case, the 4-chamber view is the far right image of the top row. These short-axis views are obtained by placing the imaging plane perpendicular to the septum and parallel to the mitral valve on a 4-chamber view.
