Abstract
The main motivation of using physical simulators for wind energy applications is very simple. A laboratory setup (or test rig) can provide something that does not exist in real-world applications: controllable wind velocity. A wind turbine physical simulator (WTPS) offers a “wind-turbine-powered-like shaft” (Nichita et al 2002) which allows one to obtain the static and dynamic characteristics of a mathematically modelled wind turbine.
