Abstract
While the organ transplant community is small, the market is both highly competitive and visible. Transplant administrators have primary responsibility for business and administrative management, including finance, data management, contracting, compliance, information technology, and marketing. Unique aspects of transplantation, including the scarcity of organs and compliance, make the role of the transplant administrator distinct in healthcare administration. Transplant hospitals must have a focus on all aspects of the business of transplantation in order to assure the viability of their transplant programs.
