Abstract
Urethral strictures result from scarring in and around the urethra. Strictures can decrease the caliber of the urethral lumen and eventually obstruct urinary outflow. Other anomalies of the urethra which can cause obstruction that are not considered strictures include posterior urethral valves, anterior urethral valves, and meatal stenosis.
