Molecular Testing for Solid Tumors

  • Chapter
Book cover Molecular Genetic Pathology

Abstract

Solid tumors are neoplasms arising from nonhematopoietic tissues of the body, which may be either benign or malignant, although most solid tumors for which molecular diagnosis is applied are malignant. Malignant solid tumors are divided into two broad categories, sarcoma and carcinoma, based upon their tissue of origin.
