Abstract
Anorexia nervosa is a relatively rare disorder, affecting about 0.5% of women between the age of 15 and 45 (1) and about 0.05% of males. However, its incidence may be increasing (1–3). The illness often leads to chronic ill-health, and patients are 10 times more likely to die from complications of the illness than those without it (4,5).
