Abstract

The column plays a central role in obtaining separations by LC, and many separation problems originate with the column. Some of these problems can be avoided or minimized by starting out with the right column. Other problems can be delayed by appropriate preventative maintenance. Finally, some problems occur despite our best efforts—these problems present a wide range of different symptoms that must be diagnosed and then cured.
