Abstract

The clinician should attempt to understand any platelet count increased above the normal range of values and confirmed on two blood tests. One pitfall in leaving chronic thrombocytosis unexplained is the later development of a thrombotic complication and an oversight in the diagnosis of an underlying myeloproliferative disorder.
