Abstract
We have discussed the flow and transport properties of homogeneous fluids consisting of a single chemical species, allowing for spatial density variations. In the remainder of this book, we turn out attention to inhomogeneous fluids consisting of two or more chemical species, including the effect of a chemical reaction. Preliminary concepts and the notion of diffusion are introduced in this chapter and then discussed further and elaborated in subsequent chapters.
