Abstract
The lumbar sympathetic block is widely used in the field of interventional pain medicine to treat painful conditions involving the lower extremities. This chapter provides a concise description of the anatomy and physiology of the lumbar sympathetic chain. Following is a discussion of the utility of lumbar sympathetic blockade, patient selection, and the technical aspects of performing the procedure.
