Abstract

Developments in tuberculosis (TB) control in China have coincided with medical developments across the nation, especially those in preventive medicine. The public health system in China is improving with the guiding principle of prevention first. China’s government stresses the importance of TB prevention and control. Support for funding, system, and capability building increases each year. Much progress has been made regarding TB control since the first National TB Control Program was established in 1982. Tremendous social and economic benefits have been achieved; however, there are still many challenges for controlling TB in China.
