Abstract
There are entire books on how to apply for jobs, from writing resumes to interviewing successfully to effective negotiation. I cannot possibly hope to cover all that in a single chapter; indeed, that is not my goal here. Rather, I would like to give an overview of some broad rules governing the road to finding faculty positions in the biomedical sciences, with a focus mainly on the United States, though I suspect certain aspects of this review may hold value abroad as well. Of note, I am also only focusing on academic positions, not industry positions, as I do not believe I am sufficiently versed in that area to provide useful advice (beyond what I described in the previous chapter).
