Abstract

Mass lesions of the lacrimal fossa primarily consist of inflammatory and benign and malignant neoplastic disorders of the lacrimal gland and cysts. The most common benign and malignant epithelial tumors of the gland are the pleomorphic adenoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma, respectively. Other tumors, including lymphoma, acinic cell carcinoma, oncocytoma, sebaceous carcinoma, solitary fibrous tumor, hemangioma, and Warthin’s tumor may be encountered in this region. Common inflammatory and structural pathologies such as sarcoidosis, Sjögren’s disease, Wegener’s granulomatosis, and dermoid cysts and dacryops are also covered in this chapter. The morphology, clinical aspects, and treatment of the lesions of this area are reviewed in this chapter.
