Abstract
This section introduces the major indications for breast surgery, including both benign and malignant processes. The evaluation, staging, and treatment of breast cancer are described in detail. The technique of both lumpectomy and mastectomy are discussed, as are the most common postoperative complications of these operations. A classic case of invasive ductal carcinoma is described, and questions are provided for review.
