General Discussion and Conclusions about Adrenergic Neurons

  • Chapter
Adrenergic Neurons

Abstract

From this extensive survey on the properties of adrenergic neurons and of adrenergic neurotransmission, some general features can be considered. While not intended as a general theory for adrenergic neurons, they supply possible guidelines for the interpretation of some of the data and findings in this enormous and continuously growing field. It is proposed here that the great variability of adrenergic neurons and their functions can be accounted for by a limited number of modulating factors.
