Abstract

Rett’s syndrome is thought to occur in approximately one in every 10 000 to 12 000 female births, but recent research has shown that the condition is probably more common than was hitherto thought. It is now considered to be one of the commoner causes of retardation in girls. The condition seems, at present, only to affect girls, there having been no confirmed male cases.
