In Britain today more than half the companies which have purchase departments probably operate more than one establishment for which purchases are made. When a growing business branches out by building new factories in different areas, or when mergers or takeover bids — a forced growth process — bring several factories under a single top management, new organizational problems are bound to arise in supply work.
