Abstract
1a, b Isolated vertebral arterial occlusions resuiting in brain ischaemia are relatively uncommon when compared with the occurrence of combined carotid and vertebral lesions. Routine fourvessel angiographic studies performed in symptomatic patients for the Joint Study of Extracranial Arterial Occlusions demonstrated that lesions of vertebral origin were second in incidence only to those related to carotid bifurcation.
