Abstract

Clinical angiology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular diseases. The main therapeutical problem is to eliminate a flow impediment, for example a vascular stenosis or occlusion. The most effective way to do this is to increase the radius of the stenosis. This can be done by conservative or surgical means. However, there are many patients who do not respond, or to whom these therapeutical measures cannot be applied at all.
