Abstract
We can hardly imagine an existence without the modern ‘miracles’ of computers and instantaneous audio and visual communications. The sophisticated control systems available to us as part of many rather mundane labour-saving devices such as automatic washing machines have also been totally absorbed into today’s accepted way of life. All these things have been made possible only by the recent huge advances in electronics.
