Flexible endoscopy of the upper digestive tract

Upper digestive flexible endoscopy has evolved considerably over the last 25 years. It presently plays a dominant role in the evaluation of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Specifically, it provides both direct and complete visualization of the area and direct access for tissue sampling and/or therapeutic intervention. The technique should be mastered by any clinician with a special interest in diseases of the oesophagus, stomach, or duodenum.
