Abstract

From now on the multiplication of a matrix into a vector will no longer be associated with the solution of equations. In the relation
$$y = {\text{Ax}}$$
(19.1)
the matrix represents a function by which the independent vector variable x is converted into the dependent variable y, a ‘linear vector function’. We will occasionally write (Ax) with a bracket as a column vector without changing the meaning of A or x.
