Pulsation Periods of Rotating White Dwarf Models

  • Chapter
Book cover Pulsating Stars

Abstract

The recent discovery1,2 of rapidly pulsating Tadio sources has renewed interest in the adiabatic oscillations of white dwarfs. While we believe that, for various reasons3,4, the pulsars are not connected with pulsating white dwarfs, there is a certain intrinsic interest in the minimum oscillation period for an ordinary star, and in this work we will discuss the effect of rotation on the lowest modes of pulsation.
