Abstract
During the last two decades several biological assays have been developed to estimate the activity of hypophyseal prolactin. The methods are based on the physiological activity of prolactin in different species, and in addition to their debatable specificity, they lack sensitivity and practicability and therefore could not be adequately applied to the estimation of the low levels of prolactin normally found in blood.
